Probabilistic Fault Displacement Hazard Assessment (PFDHA) for Nuclear Installations According to IAEA Safety Standards

Principal Geologist Stephen Thompson is coauthor of a recently published paper in the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, titled Probabilistic Fault Displacement Hazard Assessment (PFDHA) for Nuclear Installations According to IAEA Safety Standards.  The paper summarizes work Steve and colleagues have been doing with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to provide guidance to member states on the use of PFDHA. Steve and LCI Sr. Principal Ivan Wong have been working with a group at IAEA since 2017 on PFDHA and its application to nuclear facilities and are coauthors on a soon-to-be published TECDOC. The BSSA paper summarizes this work and provides a preview of a current benchmarking project being conducted through the IAEA.
